Revisiting Hotel New Grand Yokohama, a place you'll want to stay at once

HNG_courtyard

A classic hotel with an exotic atmosphere that opened in the port city of Yokohama in 1927 .

Hotel New Grand is known for having been the lodging of famous people such as General MacArthur, Charlie Chaplin, and Babe Ruth .

Don't miss the grand staircase, which is a symbol of the main building, and the classical courtyard and patio, which are beautifully lit up at night.

In addition, you can enjoy dishes that originated at the New Grand Hotel, such as "Seafood Doria," "Spaghetti Napolitan," and "Pudding a la Mode" ( The cafe on the first floor is also one of the things to look forward to.

This time, I booked a single-bathroom (single) room in the main building, a 16-square-meter non-smoking room, for 12,250 yen (after Ikyu instant discount).

Actually, this was my second time staying here, and I stayed in the same room as last time.

3. Breakfast

  • Breakfast costs 4,500 yen and you can choose between Western and Japanese set meals.

HNG_Breakfast

This time too, I was planning to check out early in the morning, so I chose a plan without breakfast, but from the Ikyu Diamond benefits ,

  • 1 hour extended check-out time (subject to availability at time of check-in)
  • Free parking (up to one car during your stay)
  • Restaurant voucher worth 1,000 yen (one voucher per person per stay, can be used for food and drink at the restaurant)
  • Free baked goods (one per person per stay)
I used a restaurant voucher to get a "pudding a la mode" for just ¥821, thanks to a 10% discount for hotel guests, though this isn't stated on their website.

Overall ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I was surprised to hear the sound of an electric drill just after 10pm. I called the front desk and reported the noise.

It's a fairly old building so I understand that maintenance is difficult, but I wish they would refrain from working at night.

I got a pudding a la mode with the 1,000 yen coupon I received as an Ikyu Diamond perk, and I was very satisfied. I'll save the doria and Neapolitan for next time.

😄 The lobby space on the second floor is a great place to relax even if you don't have any particular business.😄 I got a great deal on a pudding à la mode using a meal voucher.😄 The courtyard was well-lit up and a sight to behold.😄 The staff were courteous and helpful.😄 Separate loungewear.

😢 I had trouble falling asleep due to the maintenance work at night 😢 Maybe because it was a single room? It's a shame there was no view 😢 The lobby on the second floor After 6pm it becomes a gathering place for party groups.
