Gate Hotel Yokohama, opened in February 2025
The Gate Hotel Yokohama by HULIC opened on February 26, 2025 on the site of the former Star Hotel, which housed Eggs 'n Things.
The hotel is located in front of Yamashita Park and within walking distance of Chinatown and the Red Brick Warehouse.
I stayed at this hotel because I was able to book an essential double room with breakfast for 18,774 yen after the Diamond member discount during Ikyu's 72-hour weekend sale .

1. Access from the station
- From Motomachi-Chukagai Station on the Minatomirai Line,
- For 10-car trains, take the escalator near car 5, and for 8-car trains, take the escalator near car 4.
- Take Exit 4 towards Marine Tower
- At Exit 4, there are also up and down escalators and elevators.
- Once you reach ground level by escalator, proceed towards the rear (sea side) towards the Marine Tower.
- Go to the right of the Marine Tower, turn left onto Yamashita Park Street and you will find the hotel
- Arrival at the hotel
- The route to the hotel. There are no convenience stores along the way, so if you need to go, go to the Natural Lawson on the left side of Exit 4.
2. The Gate Hotel Yokohama by HULIC
Entrance on the 1st floor, check-in on the 12th floor
This time, my room was on the 11th floor. I requested a high floor with a good view when I made the reservation, so I was lucky to get a room on the top floor 😊 😊

Simple desk and chair. I liked the lack of POP displays 😊 The outlet for the air purifier was self-service 😞
The room type is essential double, and is located on floors 2-11. The bed size is 180cm x 203cm.
There is a power outlet and Type C charging cable next to the pillow.

Although the weather was unfortunately bad, we could see the Nippon Yusen Hikawa Maru (Maritime Museum) from the window.
Mineral & Coffee (there were two types, but there was no explanation, so the difference was unclear)
Vending machines and ice machines were available on each floor.

The bath salts and hand cream (second from the top) are great 😊 (They don't have lotion or other items, so be sure to bring them with you)
The bathroom and toilet have separate light switches, so you can dim the light and soak in the bathtub.
There was also a rain shower, a chair and a bucket, though they are not pictured here 😊

11th floor bar: Because the weather was bad and it was early, it was completely booked.
You can't go outside in bad weather.
But I was happy because I got a delicious cocktail 😊

You can bring drinks from the bar on the 12th floor and relax, but this is not permitted on rainy days.
3. Breakfast

Unfortunately, the weather was bad and we couldn't enjoy the rooftop terrace, but we did enjoy a delicious breakfast and cocktails. Next time, I'd like to try a late breakfast after a morning walk.
